Oil settles above $98 per barrel (AP)

Oil prices are sticking around the same level they've been at since the beginning of the month, as talks continue over debt issues that could affect future demand. Here's how energy contracts traded on Wednesday.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange:

Crude rose 54 cents to settle at $98.40 per barrel.

Gasoline gained 3.21 cents to settle at $3.1470 a gallon.

Heating oil picked up 2.04 cents to settle at $3.1184 a gallon.

Natural gas fell 4.2 cents to settle at $4.469 per 1,000 cubic feet.

On the ICE Futures exchange:

Brent crude rose $1.09 to settle at $118.15 per barrel.
