Wi-Fi under threat from extreme weather, warn ... - UK Telecoms News

broadband7Climate change and global warming, is there perhaps anything in today?s society that we don?t blame upon environmental challenges? Now we are told our business broadband connections face disruption as weather patterns become more extreme, say heated cabinet ministers.

Roads, railways, power and water supplies also need to be protected as Environment Secretary, Caroline Spelman, said higher temperatures and rainstorms could disturb and upset our everyday dependents.

She added that our increasingly wetter winters and drier summers may lead to raised subsidence, damaging underground cables and masts of which we oh so heavily rely on and causing disruption to Wi-Fi communications.

?If climate change threatens the quality of your signal, or you can?t get it because of extreme fluctuations in temperature, then you will be disadvantaged, which is why we must address the question,? said Ms Spelman.

?And just imagine in the height of an emergency if the communications system is down or adversely affected.?

The Environment Secretary said around ?200billion is expected to be poured into UK infrastructure over the next five years, but if facilities cannot cope with the increase in floods, droughts and storms likely to accompany rising temperatures, the money will have been wasted, she warned.

Although some may be thinking the comments are a bit far-fetched, it?s always clever to think ahead and be thoroughly prepared should your business broadband or reliant Wi-Fi suddenly conks out.

A disaster recovery plan from Elitetele.com will ensure that your business continues to run smoothly and uninterrupted, even if your business broadband connection isn?t.
