This position is located in McLean, VA a suburb of Washington, DC and relocation to this area would be required.

Gannett Co., Inc., seeks a Vice President, Corporate Marketing
to lead the corporate marketing team for Gannett and to help grow the business. This individual will be responsible for all marketing efforts including, brand (consumer & trade), events and sales marketing. This role will work closely with the divisions and the national sales efforts at GCI leading the organization towards a more robust client solutions selling model. While using the larger Gannett media and customer insights portfolios, the organization focus is not just on the traditional sales blocking/tackling but also on bringing clients ideas that meet their business objectives. Key to this role is the understanding of the sales process ? how to partner with sales from a marketing POV to help drive revenue because this role will also oversee the client solutions department. In addition this position will focus on identifying and developing new business opportunities that leverage Gannett?s assets. ?Position reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Gannett Co., Inc.

  • Guide the elements required to execute these strategies and plans.
  • Collaborate with Management Team across all business categories to identify emerging business opportunities and develop compelling, innovative launch strategies.
  • Build strong internal and external customer relationships. Constantly seeking to understand their most critical issues and developing the creative research approaches combined with relevant market insights.
  • Work with agencies and other marketing partners to reinforce GCI?s business and strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with corporate research and innovation team to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Partner with public relations team on both internal and external communications plans/needs.

Qualifications:

  • College degree with at least 15 years of prior experience in marketing capacity with a proven record in brand management; MBA preferred but not required.
  • Person must be a creative problem-solver with strong organizational skills.?
  • Person must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with all platforms and departments of GCI.
  • This is a fast-paced environment and will require flexibility and an extraordinary job commitment.
  • Proven track record and senior level leadership experience within a "world-class" marketing role.
  • Demonstrated experience building and/or significantly upgrading marketing capabilities across the various marketing disciplines as well as the ability to improve processes and organizational talent.
  • Expertise in client focused sales marketing.
  • Experience leading both a direct as well as matrix organizations. A proven developer of people is essential.
  • Credibility based upon reputation, skills and insights both within the Company, the media industry and with leading marketers; ability to serve as a business partner to the national sales team and its clients.
  • Ability to play an effective public role in strengthening the Company?s external marketing profile and in communicating specific areas of expertise and differentiation with the press, the industry and clients.
  • Deep knowledge of leading marketing partners/agencies and experience managing these relationships.
