? Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque yesterday urged the agriculture economists to play active role in strengthening agricultural marketing system to achieve self-reliance in food.

The minister was addressing the 14th National Council and Seminar of Bangladesh Agricultural Economists Association (BAEA) at Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council?s auditorium.

Shawkat Momen Shahjahan MP, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Agriculture ministry and its member Abdul Mannan MP, BRAC executive director Dr Mahbub Hossain, Council management committee convener Mizanur Rahman and BAEA secretary general AHM Monirul Huq Nakvee, among others, spoke on the occasion. BAEA president and Planning Commission member Prof. Dr Sattar Mandal chaired the event.

Member of the Planning Commission Prof. Shamsul Alam made a key-note presentation at the seminar ?Investment in agriculture and rural Economy for food security.?
